the need
Cognitive development in early childhood predicts mental health across the life-course. Millions of children, particularly those from socially disadvantaged populations, are at risk of not attaining their full developmental potential.

Before development potential can be realized, it must be measured. However, there are no objective, scalable assessment tools which directly measure a preschooler’s cognition—contributing to a lack of developmental surveillance in these crucial years.

Sangath is a not-for-profit research organization dedicated to improving mental health across the lifespan. The Child Development Group in Sangath has designed and validated DEvelopmental assessment on an E-Platform (DEEP), a digital tool which addresses this gap. It comprises 14 gamified neuropsychological tasks woven into a first-person narrative, which assesses cognition in 2.5- to 6-year-old children. DEEP assesses developmental potential, and enables timely interventions.
